Sol Acupuncture & Sachem Shiatsu

Sol Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing system developed in China over 3,000 years ago, and is now practiced all over the world as an adjunct to the Western medical system. It stimulates the body’s own healing mechanism that we were born with, without need for drugs or surgical intervention. Our bodies are less productive at self-healing as we age due to stress, trauma, lifestyle, and injury. Even minor surgeries can cause scar tissue and disrupt the body’s own healing system. Stagnation or depletion occurs in the body with time, and the body accumulates disease. Acupuncture reverses this process of disease in the body.

How Does it Work?

Acupuncture stimulates the body’s own healing potential. Sterile, single-use, hair-thin needles are inserted along pathways of fascia (meridians) in the body to facilitate blood flow, cellular response and proper circulation, all essential for healing. The impetus of the needle provides the body enough stimulus to re-organize and clear stagnation from injury, diet or other stressor.

What do I wear? Will it hurt?
Acupuncture is performed while the patient is fully clothed. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing so that I can get to your knees and elbows. Little if any sensation if felt at the insertion of the needle. All needles are single-use and sterile. Treatments are both relaxing and rejuvenating.

How much does it cost?

Please inquire about pricing for payment on the day of service. We currently bill Cigna and Harvard Pilgrim for those individuals whose plans cover acupuncture.

Please call your insurance company to determine coverage.

How many times do I need to come for successful treatment?
As we are working with the body’s innate healing mechanism, each successive treatment will “hold” for a longer duration. The first treatment is like creating a path in a fresh snow. The first steps are barely detectable. With each successive walk on the path, the way becomes clearer. It is so with acupuncture. Diet and lifestyle will also be explored to eliminate any potential offending stressors that prevent the body from staying successfully clear.
